From outside Salzburg: take the motorway exit towards Salzburg West and follow the Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse national road in the direction of P-Altstadt Mitte (old town center car park), follow the main street Maxglaner Hauptstrasse and then on Neutorstrasse. If you are already in Salzburg: cross the main bridge, Staatsbrücke, from where you can see the fortress. Continue to Hanuschplatz square, turn left when you can to the Natural History Museum (Haus der Natur) and go straight through the Gstättentor gate. Then turn right and pass between the fountain of the horses (Pferdeschwemme) and the Palace of the Festival on the Mönschberg hill.
