Monterrei fortress is the largest "Acropolis" in Galicia. The castle was built in the 12th century by Alfonso Henríquez, grandson of Alfonso VI. Of all the elements that make up the fortified enclosure, the Tower of Homage (15th century) and the Torre das Damas (14th century) stand out. The fortress is completed: battlements, small openings and a 14-meter well in the inner courtyard.
