About the accommodation
The hotel was built in 1951 and is named after Cuba's National Hero: José Martí. From the rooms, the city can be observed, and in "La Fama", the bar-terrace of the facility, you can rest and relax after walking the streets of the city.
On weekends, in this same place, musical events are held that are very popular among Guantanameros. The Hotel Martí restaurant serves "Ajiaco Baracoano" (viands with meat broth), a typical dish of the area.
For sure you will hear more than in other regions of Cuba the famous musical theme "La Guantanamera", because it is inspired by the women of this city. Guantánamo is also known locally for its cocoa and coconut.
A few blocks away, you can enjoy the rich local culture at the Casa del Changüí (a Cuban musical genre indigenous to this region), at the Tumba Francesa Pompadour (a style of dancing, singing and percussion brought to Cuba by Haitian slaves in the early 19th century), and at the Casa de la Trova.
