The hotel is very well located in a calm and heavenly setting. Very clean, the staff very attentive, for a holiday between lovers it is ideal.
L’hôtel est très bien situé dans un cadre calme et paradisiaque. Très propre, le personnel au petits soins, pour un voyage entre amoureux c’est l’idéal.
Lots of extras are offered at an additional cost such as spa, loungers, which is a shame.
Beaucoup d’extras en supplément sont proposés comme spa, chaises longues c’est dommage.

The hotel has a beautiful location and luxurious feel. The beds are very comfortable and most of the staff could not be more helpful.
The rooms are very clean and spacious. The breakfast options are plentiful, and delicious. Requests are promptly honored.
Free coffee and tea are supplied in the room.
We had an early check-out but got a generous picknick to take along to the airport.
The room we had was with courtyard view (which is barren - no interesting view at all). This courtyard is devoid of any sunlight, so our room was consequently very dark. (The days were very sunny and even then we needed to turn on the lights in the room. This was not pleasant since one could see into our room from the hallway opposite the courtyard). This was the cheapest option available in the hotel - but we would not book this type of room again - if you stay in this hotel it is better to spring for at least partial seaview.
The light fixtures in the room were very illogically placed and it took us several days to find out which light fixture worked for which part of the room.
We booked this hotel partly for the spa, but this is not included for guests: an extra 25€/pp/per visit is charged. The spa itself is clean and designed beautifully. The staff is very friendly. There is however only one real sauna, and one hamam. Furthermore a pool, a jacuzzi and some experience showers. We didn't go back after visiting once.
Parking costs extra (8.5€/day)- which we think should be included in the booking for a hotel of this stature.
The food is delicious, but on the expensive side for Madeira. There are cheaper and equally delicious options in the neighborhood.
One of the staff of the Fly bar was not up to par with the rest of the staff. He (seemingly in charge) was more interested in his phone than in helping out.
After one complimentary bottle of water in the room upon arrival, no additional free bottles were supplied, even tho the tap water in Madeira (while potable) tastes like chemicals. The drinks in the minibar are traditionally overpriced (4€ for a small soda), so it is best to go the supermarket to get your own.
The location is beautiful but for a longer stay it gets quite monotonous. The restaurant/drink options in the immediate vicinity are limited so either you visit the same ones a few times or you need to take the car and go elsewhere.
